1 Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 The organizing authority is the Clearwater Yacht Club (CYC). The event will be held at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center (CCSC), 1001 Gulf Boulevard, Clearwater.
1.3 For Optimists and C420's this is a Category "A" event and for Lasers this is a Category "C" event, this notice is in accordance with RRS Appendix 1.
2 Changes to the Racing Rules
Optimist RWB fleets will not be exempt from displaying a red flag in a protest situation. (Changes RRS 61.1(a).
3 Eligibility and Entry
3.1 All Optimist competitors must have been born on or after January 1, 1993.
3.2 The Optimist Green Fleet is open to any beginning Optimist sailor who meet the criteria specified by the United States Optimist Dinghy Association.
3.3 The C420, Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 fleets are open to any competitors.
3.4 Competitors must have completed all parts of the entry form and release document prior to the close of on-site registration.
4 Designated Adult
4.1 At registration, each competitor under the age of 18, shall indicate in writing the adult representative that
shall be responsible for the competitor throughout the event.
4.2 It is the competitor's designated adults decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. The adults supervising the competitors are ultimately responsible for the risks. This includes insuring that the competitor wears appropriate clothing for immersion in water. The designated adult will accept full responsibility for all actions of the competitor during any activity related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and after the regatta.

5.2 No warning signal may be made after 1500 on Sunday.
5.3 A minimum of one race shall constitute a regatta.
6 Advance Registration
Competitors may register by completing the attached registration form and sending it with the appropriate fees to:
Clearwater Championships, Clearwater Yacht Club, 830 South Bayway Blvd, Clearwater Florida 33767.
7 Fees
7.1 Required Fees (checks should be made payable to Clearwater Yacht Club Youth Sailing):
The entry fee for each boat is $65 with a $10 late fee after October 1st 2008, for double handed boats please add $15.
7.2 The entry fee includes lunch for the competitors on each race day and a regatta souvenir.
8 Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available at the time of registration.
9 Courses & Racing Area
9.1 For Lasers, C420's and Optimist red, white and blue fleets the racing area will be in the the Gulf of Mexico or if conditions are more favorable, in Clearwater Harbor South East of the Sailing
Center.
9.2 The Optimist Green fleet will sail in Clearwater Harbor, east of the Sailing Center.
10 Scoring
The Low Point scoring system, RRS A4, will apply, except that if 5 or more races are completed, the worst discardable
score shall be dropped. For the Optimist fleets an additional discard will apply if 9 or more races are completed.
